Travelling with best flights and sharing my travel

 Hello Share Fun Trips members,

I want to share with you a great trip that me and my husband Mike had in Grand Canyon. If information below can help you in any way for your future trip to Grand Canyon my mission with this article has been accomplished.

We are currently live in Las Vegas and since it’s sin city we try to balance it with small trips to the wilderness. That’s what so great about the west coast that there are so many amazing places to see just by driving there, love it. Few weeks ago we saw a show on History Channel about Grand Canyon and got really inspired to go there on our next trip.  Since we had never been to Grand Canyon we wanted to stay at the hotel that is located as close as possible to the edge of the canyon. Location, location, location... Booking a hotel online I found one that stood out, the name is El Tovar. Located just few steps from the edge of the Canyon this place have everything that we were looking for: nice rooms, different choice of restaurants and of course the view. http://www.grandcanyonlodges.com/el-tovar-409.html

Driving from Las Vegas was very easy, in just 4 hours and we were looking at the one of the most incredible natural creation. Wow, what a view! I can only imaging the shock and amazement that people had the first time they laid eyes on the canyon. This place is full of history, not only history of native americans and first europeans but history of the earth. One of the lower layers of the rock go back to the 1.7 billion years ago. It’s quite mazing if you think about it. Here we are in 2011 standing in front of the place that had expose 1/3rd of the history of our planet. Cannot help but feeling so small.

First night coming back from the dinner we have a surprise waiting for us. In the dark we could see big animal figures and many curios people trying to take a photo of them. Coming closer we can see around 10 different elk that came to our hotel for the fresh grass. I knew that wild life in Grand Canyon is very rich but I could not imaging that we could be so close to such animals like elk, it was quite amazing! They were not scared of people, I guess they are used to the attention. After that night we knew that they come out around 8 o’clock in the evening so we try to had an early dinner and get our cameras ready to have a chance to enjoy those graceful animals and snap some photos. Here is a photo that we took in one of those nights.

Every night after watching the elk we would open a bottle of red wine, sit on the edge of the canyon and think about this amazing place, about the millions of years it took for the canyon to form and how short our lifetime compare to those rocks. Night sky is just spectacular there. I have never see so many stars in my life. Millions and millions of them shinning in the night sky making this moment very spiritual and make us feel very close to nature and feel so happy to be a part of this amazing creation. So, I ran to the hotel to grab my camera and snap this shot to forever remember this magical moment.

By the end of the 3rd day I had a sad feeling, I didn’t want to leave. Feels like there are so much more that we could discovered.

Grand Canyon have been an inspiration for a millions of people and I am no different. I know it will be in my heart forever and with any chance available I will try to come back here with anticipation to discover something new.
