On the western lineation of Indian Subcontinent, there’s a narrow strip – around 105km long and 65km wide – covered by the gorgeous green Western Ghats to one side and the mighty Arabian Sea to the other. Relatively small but really incredible, this landmass is filled with a plethora of wonderments; most of them being gifted by the Mother Nature. Yes! Your guess is correct. I’m talking about Goa – a tiny Indian state renowned for its mesmeric natural beauty and amazing tourism attractions. This beautiful state is blessed with a diverse mixture of landscapes and rich flora & fauna.
Topographically, Goa is divided into three main segments – the lush green Western Ghats ranges, the lateritic midland region and the coastal plain. Apart from that, the state has been divided into two administrative districts – the North Goa and the South Goa, with Panaji being the capital city and the Margao being the major trading port of the state. Goa shares state border with Maharastra to the North and Northeast, and with Karnataka to the South and Southeast. Almost one-sixth of Goa’s total land is comprised by the Western Ghats that is also the source of state’s all main rivers. The midland region is made of laterite plateaus with elevation between 30m to 100m. The coastal region is just a fraction of Goa’s total landmass, but it claims to be the most significant part supporting the overwhelming majority of its population.
With such a diverse topography, Goa is the perfect destination for nature lovers. Beaches in Goa offer stunning views of sea and green palms and make a holiday amidst peace and natural bounties. Holiday in Goa is truly a dream for many tourists. Nowadays, a number of travel companies offer customized Goa packages to make this dream a reality.
